It became apparent that Pipilotti Rist has too many other projects going on to give Cinema Reloaded the attention it needs and deserves. Therefore she has decided to withdraw from Cinema Reloaded.
Pipilotti regrets not having more time and energy to make it happen, as she writes in a special message to her co-producers:
Dearest co producers!
Thank you very much for your support and confidence in my project. I’m really excited about the possibilities of Cinema Reloaded and very interested in what we can learn from this experiment, but I've taken on a lot projects and exhibitions lately; too many, in fact. It almost breaks my heart but I regretfully had to decide to pull out from Cinema Reloaded, however much I like the ideas and potential behind it. I want to thank you all and the Rotterdam film festival for your trust and encouragement and wish Alexis and Yuhang all the best with their projects. I’m very much looking forward to seeing their new films!
I wish you heaven on earth and stay metal!
Pipilotti
What happens to my investment?
Every coin invested in Pipilotti’s project will automatically return to your virtual wallet, after which you can decide for yourself which alternative Cinema Reloaded project you wish to re-allocate your coin to. Will it be Alexis Dos Santos, Ho Yuhang, or…
Harmony Korine!
We’re proud and honored to announce that the American writer/director Harmony Korine will be our new Cinema Reloaded director. Once hailed as ‘the future of American cinema’ by Werner Herzog, Korine has proven himself as one of the most controversial and independent filmmakers working today. His vast and varied body of work includes Kids, his directorial debut Gummo, Julien Donkey-Boy, Ken Park and one of his most provocative films yet, Trash Humpers . His Cinema Reloaded project is called God’s Joke. It already appears on the Cinema Reloaded website, so be sure to check it out and let him know what you think!
Also don't forget to check out
IndieWIRE.com. Our friends from IndieWIRE will be devoting their attention to Cinema Reloaded in the Filmmakers Toolkit section. Cinema Reloaded will also be a permanent fixture on the homepage of IndieWIRE, while the blogs by Korine, Ho and Dos Santos will be passed on to their blog section. Stay tuned.
